What is this?

This website was originally created for the “Practical Guide to Collaborative Consciousness Science” tutorial given at the ASSC25. We hope it will become a helpful resource for consciousness researchers who seek to work collaboratively.

Who are we?

We are three researchers who participate in the Cogitate Consortium. Cogitate is an adversarial collaboration aiming to arbitrate between two prominent theories of consciousness: Integrated Information Theory (IIT) and Global Neuronal Workspace (GNW). Cogitate is supported by the Templeton World Charity Foundation (TWCF). The tutorial is the product of our insights and lessons learned while working in this collaboration.

Rony is a Ph.D. candidate in the Sagol School of Neuroscience at Tel Aviv University, Csaba is a research specialist in the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Tanya is Cogitate’s scientific coordinator at the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics, and Alex is a Ph.D. candidate in the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics.
